Her professional expertise is in One Health---blending veterinary medicine, public health, epidemiology, animal welfare, and communication. She has over 25 years experience in infectious disease epidemiology and specializes in communicating complex scientific principles to diverse audiences, including the media.

Dr. Hansen adds veterinary medicine and science policy consulting services to the portfolio of Hansen Consulting, LLC. Among her work and accomplishments:

  • Veterinary advisor on responsible antibiotic use in animals to GWU/ARAC
  • Member of the advisory boards of the National Academy of Medicine One Health Action Collaborative, and the CIDRAP Antimicrobial Stewardship Project
  • An "honest broker" for industry, consumer advocacy, public health, academic, antibiotic resistance, animal welfare, and food safety safety groups
  • Requested spokesperson for national and international media
  • Former state epidemiologist and state public health veterinarian for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment
